It is Easy to Make Your Own Wine with wine making kits
Almost anything organic can be made into wine. From traditional ingredients like grapes and apricots to more exotic ingredients such as rose hips and almonds, with the right ingredients and basic tools it is easy to make your own wine. Whether you are an amateur wine connoisseur or casual wine taster, making your own wine is an inexpensive, enjoyable, and relatively easy hobby. The wine making process involves three basic steps: fermentation, racking and stabilizing. A home wine kit guides the beginner through each step to achieve a great tasting, basic table wine. Fermentation is triggered by the addition of yeast to a fruit juice base. The yeast feeds upon the sugars in the fruit juice and produces alcohol as a byproduct. Once the wine base has finished fermenting, the liquid portion is draw off in in a process called racking. Racking involves siphoning the wine from the fermentation container to separate it from the sediment at the bottom of the fermentation container where the yeast is most actively fermenting. Once the wine is racked, an airlock is used to keep the wine from continuing to ferment too quickly while still allowing gases to escape from the container. Racked wine should be tested with a hydrometer to determine when it has reached its optimal level of alcohol. Once the wine reaches the desired taste and alcohol level, it can be stabilized, including the addition of chemicals to “clarify” the wine and eliminate any cloudiness. The stabilized wine can then be bottled and, ultimately, enjoyed by its maker!
Wine Making Equipment Kit
Home wine making kits are an easy way to get started and come with virtually everything needed to make a batch of wine. A basic kit will contain all of the components needed to make six gallons of wine, or 30 standard 750 ml wine bottles. Typical components include a large plastic fermenter with lid, a large glass container and airlock device, a wine hydrometer, bottle brush, corker, siphon tubing, bottle filler and basic equipment instructions. A beginner may want to purchase a wine concentrate kit which contains fruit juice, yeast and various clarifying ingredients.
